Student Profile: David Liu

Bright Minds is proud to have supported Glenelg High School 2023 graduate David Liu in his college journey! During his senior year, David was a recipient of the Academy of Finance Scholarship, awarded to outstanding HCPSS students participating in the HCPSS Academy of Finance career academy.

Did you receive any special recognitions, awards, scholarships, grants or honors at graduation? National Merit Scholar and U.S. Presidential Scholar Semifinalist

What does the Academy of Finance Scholarship mean to you? 

It is extremely meaningful to have been recognized for my impact on the Applications and Research Laboratory and the Academy of Finance.

What college or university do you attend? 

University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) 

What is your major? 

Finance and Business Analytics

What is your favorite part of attending college? 

Forming new relationships and getting to know others from different places.

Describe your post-college goals/dreams? 

I would like to pursue a career in corporate finance or banking.

What are some of your favorite memories or experiences from high school? 

The National Finance competitions and visiting the Federal Reserve Bank New York, being named an Elks Most Valuable Student, and playing on the field during my senior football season.

What is one piece of advice you have for future graduating Howard County high school students?

Don’t be afraid to reach out to others and initiate conversations.
