Bright Minds Foundation, the Howard County public school education foundation, today announced the appointment of Lisa Terry as Chair of its Board of Directors. Terry, who joined the Bright Minds board in 2016, succeeds Suzi Padgett, Bright Minds Immediate Past Chair, who has been a member of Bright Minds board since 2017.
“It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as Chair of the Bright Minds Board of Directors,” said Padgett. “I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments over the past two years. We have provided students more than 56,000 critical learning resources to help them stay engaged with their education during a tumultuous time. We’ve continued to build our organizational capacity to provide important support to more students and educators in Howard County. I am confident in our future and in Lisa’s leadership as we continue to expand our impact.”
Lisa Terry is a 25-year resident of Howard County and an experienced management professional with strong human resources, marketing, communication, community relations, and military affairs experience. She is the Manager of the Office of Veterans and Military Families in the Department of Community Resources and Services for Howard County Government. Terry has 3 children who have all come up through the Howard County school system (1 graduate and 2 current students). She has served in many volunteer roles, including PTA President, substitute teacher, and Girls on the Run coach. She is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Howard County Premier.
“I am honored to have been appointed as the Chair of the Bright Minds Board of Directors,” said Terry. “Bright Minds is uniquely qualified to bring together community support for children and educators in Howard County. I look forward to engaging companies, organizations, and individuals in our community who – along with our team – are passionate about ensuring all children have a chance to succeed in our community. I also look forward to working closely with our dedicated team, including Suzi Padgett, our Immediate Past Chair; Jennifer Van Kirk, our Executive Director; Cheryl Johnson, our Program Coordinator; and each of the community leaders making up our Board of Directors.”
