Bright Minds, the foundation of the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS), is accepting applications for JumpStart Books and Fees Scholarships. The program was created to assist JumpStart dual enrollment students by helping to cover the cost of books and course fees while taking classes on Howard Community College’s campus. Applications are open to students:
- Enrolled in HCPSS JumpStart Dual Enrollment Program
- Enrolled in HCPSS Free and Reduced Meals (FARMs)
- Taking courses on HCC’s campus
Applications are due August 8, 2021 by 11:59pm. Application instructions and guidelines are available. Students are asked to submit a complete application via Google Forms. Students must reapply for the scholarship each semester.

Last school year Bright Minds provided 105 JumpStart scholarships, totaling over $22,000, covering the cost of books and course fees. These scholarships help students have an authentic college experience while developing skills, earning credits, and exploring career options.
