The Bright Minds Foundation Board of Directors is proud to announce that Brian Bassett has been selected as our 2026 Outstanding HCPSS Alumni of the Year.
This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects not just what Brian has accomplished, but who he is—an HCPSS alumnus who has never stopped giving back to the schools and community that helped shape him.
The Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award honors an HCPSS graduate who has become a leader in their field while continuing to invest time, talent, and heart in Howard County. Brian embodies that spirit in every way. Grounded in his belief that trust and engagement are built through authentic communication and real relationships, he has consistently shown up for students and families across the county—and for Bright Minds.
His partnership with the Foundation has meant more than we can easily capture on the page. He have been a thoughtful sounding board, a creative problem-solver, and a trusted advisor, helping us focus our energy where it matters most and approaches our work with clarity and intention. For a “small but mighty” organization, his insight and steady guidance have made a lasting difference. Bright Minds—and the students and educators we serve—are stronger because of him.
